Just over four miles from The Devonshire Arms is the village of Eyam, which was nearly wiped out by the plague in 1665-66.
The focal point of the village is Eyam Hall, which has been open to the public for 30 years and is well worth a visit. This Jacobean manor house has been in the same family since it was completed in 1672 — originally built as a wedding present.
The hall is only open for a few days each month and during May it is open on the following dates: 15 and 17, from 11am to 3pm.
